Balder and tyr
Balder was the god of light, joy, puirty, innocence, beauty, and reconciliation. He was the son of Odin and Frigga and was beloved by all of the gods. He had a wife, Nanna and a son, Forseti, the god of justice. He began to have dreams of his death anf Frigga, in order to ensure that Balder could nto die, made everything in the universe promise to not harm Balder. Everything except mistletoe because it was such a young plant. The gods thought this amazing and proceeded to throw weapons and such at Balder to watch them reflect with no harm done. Loki, who had always been jealous of Balder, devised a plan that would end in his death. He disguised himself as an old woman and was able to have Frigga reveal she had not spoken with mistletoe. Loki retrieved the mistletoe and sharpened it into a point. He found Hod, Balders' blind brother and gave him the arrow so he could join in the throwing. It pierced Balder's heart and killed him. The gods and goddesses mourned for him greatly. His death is one of the events signifying the approach of Ragnarok.
Once Rognarok is over, Balder will return as one of the gods of the new world.
Tyr, like Odin, was a god of war. He was a superb fighter and was greatly reveared for this quality. What he is best known for is losing his hand while binding Loki's monstrous son, Fenrir. Fenrir was a giant wolf and exremely ferocious. The gods became frightened that he may destroy them and proceeded to trick him into becoming bound. They mocked that Fenrir would not be able to break the chain they would tie about him, he agreed to the challenge and easily broke the chain. They tried again with a stronger chain and met the same result. They had the Dwarves create something strong enough to bind Fenrir, and were given a magic, unbreakable ribbon. Fenrir became suspicious and said he would allow himself to be challenged once more if one of the gods would put their hand in his mouth for trust. Tyr volunteered, and placed his hand within Fenrir's gaping mouth. When Fenrir found that he was not able to break the ribbon he became furious at the gods for tricking him, and proceeded to bite off Tyr's hand. Tyr is prophecied to die fighting the beast, Garm during Ragnarok.
